I AM DISAPOINTED TO FIND THIS ON YOUTUBE AS ME AND MY WHOLE FAMILY ARE AND WERE FISHERMAN WETHER WE DO IT COMERCIALY OR FOR PLESSURE I AM FROM THE COMERCIAL SIDE OF IT BUT THIS DISAPOINTS ME TO SE SHARKS BEING WASTED AND HAVING THERE FINS CUT OFF FOR SHARK FIN SOUP AND BEING PUT BACK IN THE OCEAN TO DIE A LONG PAINFUL DEATH..

 

DONT GET ME WRONG MY FAMILY HAVE FISHED FOR SHARKS SUCCEFULLY BUT WWE ARENT CRUEL TO THEM WE KILL THEM HUMAINLY AND USE THE WHOLE EDIBLE PART OF THE SHARK TO GO ON THE MARKET SO THEIR ISNT MUCH WASTE,

The guys doing it may be cruel but no doubt some do it due to beat poverty, but I bet the fins are sold to in resturaunts a soup for a whole lot more, no shark fin soup no no need for shark fins :(

Tip of the iceberg. Where there is money to be made there will always be cruelty. Makes any 'humane' being sick but that sausage from Tesco has had it tough in his short life as well. The older races like American Indians etc. held sacred the buffalo because without it they would perish. They killed it as humanely as they could ( by hand ) and used practicaly everything from the beast. Then the "clever white man came along" and wiped them both out. Like everyone on this website I feel sick after seeing this video but until we question and teach our children where our meat comes from then this will still always go on. Most kids nowadays don't even know what's in a sausage. I've been cruel myself in the past ( snaring rabbits ) until one day instead of just picking up the dead corpse this poor wee thing was looking up at me half strangled ( not a nice feeling at all especially when your just a nipper, that's me and the rabbit of course ) so from then on, no snares or anything like it. Ferret or gun for me where the rabbit gets killed instantly. It's had a good natural life and a quick end and better than all that muck from the supermarket. Still like a bit o' chicken though. I may have blethered a bit too much here, but better out than in, eh!

we dont get load i think we have only done 10 in the one season we did it , erm not sure exactly but it wasnt amazing money, what happens is you land it on the market in the port / habour and it gets sold normaly to the highest bidder or a market, so its up to who ever buys it it sometimes gose to restarunts for shark stakes,

but we all get tared with the same brush as we set long lines but for bass pollake dogfish ect ect but not for sharks we do minable damage and have very very little by catch! i just found out its up to $200 a fin
