Sighthound Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 My roller pigeons have just been scattered by a peregrine.Kit was flying high and I saw the falcon fly through the middle of them knocking one out of the sky.The remaining ones scattered in all directions, not content with striking one bird it did not even follow it to the ground but set of after the others almost playing with them. Three are still missing.Red henSilver henGrizzle red hen They have been in lock down for the last two weeks due to a similar attack.Looks like I've got a resident falcon near me.Out of interest is anyone else having problems in the central Alloa area?
THE FIFER Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 sorry to here that m8, I thought hawks were a bit wary of tumblers, they are hungry just now as not many birds around for them to eat, wonder why it didnt just go for the one it got,

Had kept the bird in since end aug , last week the wind blow trap door of the rollers shed and they got out , they had only flown a couple of minutes and a percy was right into the middle of them looks like same cock that was terrorising them last year . As it turned up so quick it must be pretty local .Have heard of a few getting hammerd last few weeks and this is early for percy chasing them Edited February 10, 2013 by stb-

We never had anything like this years ago.kirkintilloch area , the percie hammered the young birds one morning and i never saw any of the 60 odd i let out from 9 in the morning till 9.30 at night , i ended up with 29 birds missing after 5 days and all the birds had been at a very stiff race 2 days previous and my birds that were 2nd 3rd and 4th fed that day still awol ,, think it just ended up like a flyaway as the birds were getting hammered day in day out , the percy was only hitting them to ground then chasing after others just killing for badness , it obviously has an observation point some where as it apears as soon as the birds are out , was hoping it had moved on but last week proved its still around .
