shaun h Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 warm bath should help i wouldn't brake the egg it can have ill affects on bird if you not sure how to do it . i agree with old yellow warm bath towel hot water bottle cotton bud in olive oil rub it round vent should help it pass used to do it with the budgies works a treat.
BANDIT Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 this happened me last year,i could see the egg but it was stuck.i got some oil and rubbed into the vent and slowly massaged the egg and i mean very slowly and it felt like ages as the egg just poped out, dont break the egg as it will do damage inside.what a relief when the egg came out.i was over the moon.ive still got the egg and the hen layed normal this year.
shaun h Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 also try running the shower or bath till its steams the room then take your bird in for a while this has also worked for me with other birds . i have read on the net that some people put boiling water in bowl and hold birds vent over it (not to close or it burns) and this has worked for them .
Guest The main Mahon Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 I tried most of the advice here but the hen would still not pass her egg. I asked an old hand in my pigeon club and he told me to give the pigeon a strong dose of epsom salts. I gave the bird the strong dose of epsom salts yesterday and I am pleased to say that she has passed the egg today. Was it the epsom salts or a culmination of all the remedies i've tried? Who knows.....I'm just glad the egg is out and my bird is ok. Thanks to everybody who offered their advice. Cheers.
