Simonwoo Posted October 7, 2012 Report Posted October 7, 2012 Just bought some stock cocks in that have swollen feet. Pickens one up a you can easily peel or rub the skin off with your fingers. Is it bumble foot.
Guest geordiejen Posted October 7, 2012 Report Posted October 7, 2012 dont think so mate do all the cocks have it?
Simonwoo Posted October 7, 2012 Author Report Posted October 7, 2012 Yes all the new cock that have been brought in.
Guest geordiejen Posted October 8, 2012 Report Posted October 8, 2012 ok mate i cant find that much about it.there are two things ive found one is a mite that causes the skin to flake and its called cnemidocoptes which is obvoiusly been mites from theprevious owners loft.it its the base of the feet like the palm of our had then its been from birds standing too long in there own wet droppings which is probably bumble foot.the other thing is staphylococcus which needs treated with antibiotics.did you see the loft where you got the birds from?unfortunately like most ailments they really need tested to see what it could be.
Guest bluemorning Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 i dont think its bumble foot mate bumble foot is due to the skin been damaged and grows like a corn which needs operating on to remove it.hope it turns out ok for you
Simonwoo Posted October 9, 2012 Author Report Posted October 9, 2012 I've got the birds on baytrill. I'm cleaning the birds feet with iodine after I've removed the skin. The lift they came from was very clean. Scrapped out 3 times a day.
Guest geordiejen Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 not much information on swollen feet mate.seems some sort of infection as its in all the cocks.
demolition man Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 I hope that i'm wrong, swollen feet can be a sign of the pigeon being Paratyphoid carrier
clockman Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 Just bought some stock cocks in that have swollen feet. Pickens one up a you can easily peel or rub the skin off with your fingers. Is it bumble foot. IMO Get your money back,
Guest geordiejen Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 staphiloccocus or however you spell it is a strain of salmonella.even still its very unusual that only the cocks have it and all the cocks have it.
Simonwoo Posted October 10, 2012 Author Report Posted October 10, 2012 Birds have all gone back and money is in my pocket. The change of loft wasn't good for them. All his other birds look bang on. Maybe the move brought it out of them.
Guest geordiejen Posted October 11, 2012 Report Posted October 11, 2012 what did you say to him mate?did he offer any expanation to what it may be?
Simonwoo Posted October 11, 2012 Author Report Posted October 11, 2012 He hadn't a clue what was up with them. He tried to say I had done some thing wrong. I told him it bollocks and his birds are carrying something. He was pretty fair after that and coughed up. He even offered me some free birds. But I said no.
Guest geordiejen Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 always keep new birds well away from your own stock this is the reason why.this guy will think twice when he is offloading birds.if he didnt know anything about it then thats fine.
