Guest Denny Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 I've been reading posts in this section and came across a posting about putting lemon juice on the seed. In return it prompted some questions: What purpose does this serve? Is it similar to cider vingar because of the acidic content? Does it help breakdown the husk of the seed aiding digestion? Do you allow the seed to abosorb some the juice before placing in feeders or just add when feeding? How often do you use it and when? Sorry for the numerous questions but I'm keen to find out more about natural supplements.
OLDYELLOW Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 helps the brewers yeast stick to the corn , also has vitamin c plus natural cleansing properties , and a acid environment more beneficial to keeping the bad bacteria levels low and your birds healthy
Tony C Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 I use fresh squeezed lemon on the pigeons feed when I use brewers yeast, the vitamin C from the lemon acts as a catalyst which helps the pigeon absorb the B vitamins from the yeast.
Wiley Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 We use a lot of freshly squeezed lemon juice, we make a supplement using lemon juice, cider vinegar and garlic. It's main property is the ph levels in the crop keeping canker and yeast levels at bay.
