(1) what time of the year would you start breeding young to fly on the natural system without them falling apart

(2) when would you stop a youngster racing that was going through the moult? I have a couple a bit scruffy around the neck, some with missing tail feathers and some with half grown tail feathers

thank you in advance for replies

years ago you could send a youngster going through the moult and bare around the neck to 200mls and get them back no problem, now we struggle to get them back in perfect condition? now, i would stop them mate for next year if they have had a few races.

you see pigeons do not like the cold weather specially when they are in the moult around neck so i would stop them straight away and let them get a good moult. Then bring them out as yearlings
