I made one have egg on his face when he tried that crap on me. He was adamant that pigeons were livestock, but I stood my ground and told him to go and check with Defra and any other organisations and get his facts right, I then told him to phone my insurance company up and ask them if he didn't believe me, he duly did and was left looking the plonker he is. Pigeons are NOT classed as livestock but if in doubt simply inform your insurance company that you take your pigeons training and they will take that into account and it does not increase your premiums. THE POLICE THINK THEY KNOW IT ALL BUT KNOW FLUMP ALL. > > > > Disclaimer: My statement is based on my own personal experience and FACT BASED after dealing with my insurance broker and asking 10 other insurance companies the same question regarding the carrying of pigeons.
Guest Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Pete I thought all insurances cover for "Domestic and Pleasure". As the birds are your own property, and you are NOT doing it for profit or business purposes, I would have thought it would be OK. So are they saying that the carrying of ANY domestic animal/pet is not covered? If so there are going to be a hell of a lot of dog owners who are also breaking the law mate.

He knows weather your car is taxed insured etc, without stopping you ;-)
Guest Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 IM GOING TO PHONE THEM IN ABIT AND SEE Take your caps lock off mate, we ain't the cops. ;D Make a point of advising your insurance company that you only transport your pigeons to training as a hobby and nothing else, the only time you are potentially open to voiding your insurance is if you are a courier or other transporter and don't tell them.
