Hello all, I don't have any birds at the moment, but I'm thinking of keeping show homers. If I decide to go ahead is it difficult to buy stock for this breed ? I notice too that some breeders have been selling sick birds, so would that be a problem ? Thanks,

Showing my ignorance here mate, I thought there was only one, so I think it's probably English show homers. Also is it true to say these birds don't get out to fly ?

hi mogga..there were some nice show racers being sold on here by chrissy, i dont think you will need to worry about the birds health if you buy from a site like this..as i think most people  on here are honest..dont buy birds from birdtrader or other sites like that ..or you will be asking for trouble, and the quality wont be the same...best of luck :) :)

As Runt says, do some homework on which you want.

Show racers are happy to be kept in but will also happily free fly if you want them to!

Like these of mine.

Mogga these are whats known as Show racers.... They are the birds you want if it is for showing them in the winter months. These birds are the ones you want if you want to tackle big shows like Blackpool in January

no they don't unless you want to enter them in flown classes. Most of the big shows have seperate classes for flown racers and show racers.

Show homers are one of three fancy homer breeds developed from racing pigeons in Britain. The other two are Exhibition homers and Genuine homers. All three breeds have a distinctive pearl (white) eye.As a rule none of these breeds are allowed their freedom.
