Hi guy's My name is CraigB and i directed the new film on pigeon racing "Little Ripper", sorry about the last post that was my producer and it seemed a bit dry. I guess what I'm asking from you guys is to help promote our film and in turn your sport will gain great exposure to the younger generation and help keep you sport healthy. The film features The late Ken Hines and The queens lofts (Carlo Napolitano) and really is endearing to your sport. The more hits we get on youtube

And Facebook

http://www.facebook.com/LittleRipperMovie

The more likely we will get a TV station to broadcast the film so everyone can see it for free.

So please share the links around and enjoy the trailer

Thanks again

well done I am 26 and am in partnership with my Father and Younger brother who is 20 and pigeons have been in our Family for more than 60years , But the problem is lack of awareness in the sport and it has struggled to move with the time but it is slowly moving in line with the times, Our Family will never give up on the pigeons. I do feel you film will help raise awareness.

Hi Craig,

Look mate, I really don't want to be a kiljoy here but I had a look at the trailer and I don't think this is going to promote pigeon Racing to anyone, let alone the young.

I'm sure this might be controversial but I don't think that old blokes in cloth caps is going to do anything to promote the sport to young people.

I don't want to spoil your thunder mate and I say this with the greatest respect but based on the trailer I don't think your film will go any further than u tube.

It looks brilliantly well filmed, edited and put together but all I saw was the same old stuff that you see in the commercial DVD/Films.

If you want to do something to promote the sport to young people it surely has to be viewed from a completly different angle with a view point from a young person. I can't say I know what the answer is but I don't think this is it.

I'm sorry mate I don't mean to be rude but I have to say what I see.

Before anyone jumps on me I have to say that this is just my honest opinion.

Thanks fro your opinion Dave and you are certainly entitled to it..

This film is completely different to the commercial DVD's that are out, the trailer may be a bit miss leading as far as young people are concerned but they are not the target audience for the trailer. The film contains a 5 minute hand drawn cartoon that has been tested with children aged from 4 to 15 and is a complete successes in sparking interest in the sport and educating kids and adults how a pigeon race works. The main character in the English/Queens story is a 12 year old boy and his 7 year old brother racing against the Queen of England.

The Short Version of the film premiered on opening night at the Austin film festival in 2010 where Ron Howard and Michael Keaton where guests, and received a top 7 "finalist award". Later going on the win the St Kilda Film festival in Melbourne Australia "Best Documentary" and tour the country. Youtube is just a tool to gain support from the pigeon fanciers community to gain momentum for its release into main stream.

Thanks for you feedback and i hope everyone on this forum can get behind this film, it already has and with your support will continue promote your amazing wonderful sport.

Regards

We all know young un's aren't always the answer to our dwindling numbers , they haven't a disposable income , then they get interested in the opposite sex drinking and partying , then setting up homes and family's , however more retired people enter our sport as most have firstly the time and secondly a disposable income

Yes i agree to a certain extent, most of the older flyers that return to the sport that i have spoken to over the last five years did start with pigeon as a young boy/girl, or had been involved through a family member as a child. Then after the partying, family Etc returned to the sport. I haven't run into to many older flyer that started clean in the sport at a older age. The interest seems to need to to sparked as a child.

Craig,Thanks for your reply mate - maybe I have been a bit hasty to make a judgement based on the trailer alone but I still stand by what I have said that the trailer hasn't got any content that will endear youngsters. If that is your target audience, the trailer isn't doing you any favours. - Again. this is just my opinion - it would be great if a few more would watch it and give an honest opinion - not just because it is a film about pigeon racing but whether they think it will help to promote the sport in any way but particularly to young people..........
