Guest Owen Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 This a very useful thread. Some years ago i got interested in various ventilation techniques and increased the ventilation in my lofts so that the air comes in at the bottom and exhausts at the top. The difference in the pigeons was massive. I then went on the experiment with shutting the birds outside in the aviaries during much of the day. Again the improvement was very marked. I hope you will tell us what happens when you race the birds from this loft because I would be willing to bet that you will get far better results from them after these alterations.
bewted Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 many years ago an old fancier which i think was called fuller isaccson(spelling) had pigeons known as wings of steel,he use to lock them out of the loft from morning till just before night in summer and all through winter and only came in at night when called for food,he was virtually unbeatable in his era,,,how he was breeding birds then i dont know, but,it was an interesting story i read long ago and never forgotten that ! just thought i would mention this if anyone wants to look up the story on this legend !
