I think it depends on what was found in the dropping sample. I've had hairworm twice, diagnosed by 2 different vets. & 2 different meds. 1 was a Harkers over-the-counter med in water for 3 days, the other POM med in water for 1 day.

Well the first vet did not tell me to take another droppings test after treatment finished. The second did, and I got a conclusive 'all clear' from that. The last 2 years have also been a conclusive 'all clear' on the first test, so for me what worked best was the procedure 'test, treat, test again' - procedure rather than medication. But I also think one day with meds in the drinker must be far better from the fanciers' handiness and pigeons' welfare viewpoints, rather than over three days.

1 1/2 inch equvalan horse wormer is easy to obtain from horse suppliers. like a tube of toothpaste..add the one and one half inches to 2 litres water..24 hrs.or a few hours more until all used up..mix in warm water to start... :rolleyes:
