Fife fed have a proposal in to change racing from the east coast to a more central/west route.

What is the pros and cons for this??

Regards alex

Hello Alex,

Looking at your proposed west route for 2012,Could i suggest the following which should be of benefit to yourselfs,

Appleby instead of Shap as near as the same milage and much safer

No liberation point at Lancaster,so perhaps Leyland

From leyland to Stafford that is a jump of Approx 70 miles

Lymm is an excellent racepoint and has been very good to us in recent years

Leyland to Lymm Approx 30 miles

Stafford ok

Perhaps Coventry instead of Cheltenham as it would hold your birds more central than cheltenham which is on the welsh border.

Hope this is of some help to you,but at the end of the day its your show of hands that will decide the birds future,Good Luck for 2012,Regards Mick

Alex Lanarkshire Fed went down this route 2008 and got clobbered buy the time they came to the Coast Race. Two weeks before the Young Bird Racing they changed back to the East Route and low and behold this year they have voted down the Centre again./???Some believe The East Route was giving some fanciers advantage but in reality they will still win. They should look at their Stock, get better pigeons, keep them healthy and get off their fat AR-ES and try harder. All the best in 2012 which ever route they go down.:animatedpigeons:and before some say it was prevailing East winds that caused the problems the same good fanciers were still winning.

Thank you mick, good points there. I feel that the responses i,ve had, its pointing to staying as we are, as the pigeons will have it the same from where ever they fly.

Thanks budgie, being in the west of fife myself, i,ve look around me to see who is actually able to hold their own in the fed and nationals, and its clear that its the guys that put the effort in thats reaping the rewards.

This was not to help individuals, it was to protect the pigeons, after having a few horrendous seasons down the east. Having asked the question, i feel the answer has been given.

Thanks to all who have commented, and given their views.

Regards alex.
