Hi what nesting material do members use ? does anyone still use pine needles ? regards Brian

yes i use pine needles, but i always pick them the year before so there nice and dry and always sprayed with insecticides, i mainly use them cos im a tight *expletive removed*.

what i do is wrap nest bowl up with news paper , and put a coconut nest felt in ! all young liquid goes through nest felt and into newspaper so they are always sitting in a dry nest !!

i use whatever i have straw cut short or tobaco stalks but i always thought pine needles wer the best i dont spray them either i dont think u need to as if u chew one u will taste pine and insects dont like pine oil i lucky cause i live near aforest wer ther is lots of pine trees and the needles are about 3 inches thick lying below them try them ther good if corn merchants could bag them do u not think they would sell them of course they would.

Normally i just use tobacco stalks but i lost some important eggs last season that were sat too tight so i'll be using nest felts and tobacco stalks in 2012.

Some of our pairs use 3/4inch nails you want to see them trying to form/bend them to suit the nest.

maybe ill chuck mine the hammer aswell and see if they will finnish my loft off for me as i fell off me perch and broke me bloody foot so all on hold for another couple of weeks
