Michael 123 Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 Hi all As i am new to keeping pigeons i need abit of info. I am trying to get a round of youngsters of my tumblers. They have laid eggs but they don't look right there is no shine to the eggs and they feel rough is it because it lack of calcium if so would it help if i put cuttle fish on there food or are they lacking something else. thanx Michael
OLDYELLOW Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 eggs that are rough haven't formed properly , ensure your birds have access to grit and minerals at all times , a lot of tumbler feed has very little protein in add some mung beans or tares

They have access to minerals and grit and i also give them filtered water as i advised. This is the second time the eggs have been like this. Does it affect the fertility of the eggs.Thanx
OLDYELLOW Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 eggs that aren't properly formed tend to get soiled easily and fertility of the egg can be compromised as may be week parts of the egg they can leak as shell not perfect all way round
