OLDYELLOW Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 Quite agree , a step in the right direction should be no injured bop should be returned to the wild , as the fear of man is decreased
THE FIFER Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 and its not natural to have BOP in your back gardens, towns or cities
Guest bigda Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 have a read, and have a look at web pages http://raptorpolitics.org.uk/2011/02/07/do-as-we-say-not-as-we-do/comment-page-1/?replytocom=3026
Guest Owen Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 I have the feeling that the Raptor People are winning in our area, which is the Eastern Valley of South Wales near Pontypool. We have reached the stage that we can not protect our birds any longer. Every time our youngsters are released for exercise the Falcons are here to grab one. I now have young pigeons that are frightened to fly. A couple of days ago I had to kill a valuable youngster because the Falcon had taken a chunk out of the back of it's neck. I sent 9 pigeons to Messac and now 4 of them are locked in nest boxes with serious wounds as a result of Falcon attacks. As far as I am concerned I will be forced to give up keeping racing pigeons because I just hate to let them out these days. At one time I would let the birds out and carry out the cleaning while they had a good fly, but these days I find I have to watch them flying because I know that they will be targeted by the Falcon. A couple of my neighbours are using rockets to try to frighten the Falcon off but I notice that as each day goes by the rockets are less and less effective. The other day a person I know well told me that pigeon racing is cruel because of the injuries suffered by the birds from the various Birds of Prey and the fear generated in the pigeons from the constant attacks. A couple of years ago I would have defended the sport from such accusations but these days I find that there is more than a bit of truth in such views.
just ask me Posted June 24, 2011 Author Report Posted June 24, 2011 i find they are not that many around me there get a welcome party
