Guest James Horncastle Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 Hello,I have a few questions related to intermodal transportation. Like why does intermodal transportation matter in international logistics and how one can improve the intermodal transportation more efficiently?? Any comments or suggestion is mostly welcome here. ThanksJames Horncastle
Guest IB Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 Are you doing an Institute of Logistics and Transport course, a Uni module, or just asking about intermodal transport in general, or transportation of pigeons in particular? I know that I wonder why pigeon Organisations don't make more use of rail & channel tunnel for races from France & Spain. One Scottish Organisation tried it for one race and shaved a day off the journey. I would be interested to know what the cost difference was.
johno Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 The Scottish National Racing Pigeon Club use the tunnel rail link every year and will do so again this year. Time saved is invaluable and benefits both driver and pigeons. Financially this option is streets ahead of the ferry crossing. The SNRPC will use the tunnel rail link for the Reims Gold Medal race and the Arras race this season 2011.
