Guest llcoolj Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 I have 24' x 6' x 4 section Loft. Question is I am a bit confused on how to work out the section and race team. At the moment I have 1 section for Stock hens, 1 section for stock cocks, 1 section widowhood ck and the last section was ment to be for ybs. bust in this last section I have last years ybs. So once I have my new ybs for this year do I mix them with last years ybs?. Please advice me on how to work with my 4 sections. Many thanks.

Guest Owen Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 I totally agree with the last post. Unfortunately, you have to come to terms with the fact that you have to set a plan as to the numbers of birds you plan to keep and then select the best and keep to those numbers. Unpalatable though it is, the rest have to go. Most successful pigeon racers keep to their planned numbers and never overstock. Young bird racing has become both profitable and thrilling but it is still the way you develop your race birds for the future. Specialist young bird racers dispose of the lot every year after the races so that they can make a clean start the following year. You have to consider doing the same sort of thing.
Guest Thunder Birds Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Looks like you might have to keep your stock paired together for the racing season. If you haven't got any get some dummy eggs and keep them ticking over. gives you a free section. Last year's youngsters I'd get going and let the basket do the selection for you!
