rockinrick Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 hi there ive had racers for 26 year and ive finally decided to chuck it. this season i began with 1o oldbirds to race i gave them 1x5ml toss 1x10ml toss 1x15ml toss and 5 2o ml toss all by public transport as i dont drive, i lost 3 in training and began with 7 yearlings 6 had raced as ybs. the first race 60ml i lost 5 ,the second 80mile the 2 returned the next day.the 3rd race120ml i sent two birds it was 40mins behind the winner iam realy embarrased going to my club with these results. every week i train my birds 20ml once. i fly them every day for an hour except on thursdays whem iam away all day i dont overcrowd my loft i treat for canker, cocco, worms and respritory i feed 1and quarter ounce a day , ornispecial once a week and vit b once a week i try to motivate them but to no avail. i have came to these points a all the experts say dont overcrowd thats mince you need at least a hundred these days also . also b you need a estate car to train them and c you need to be retired or on benefits to work these modern systems ,or have 3 partners in closing am i the worst fancier in the uk. can someone explain to me how a post gets from the above to the scots pissup page ? as everything i have read today on pb starts of a question and ends up alfs ,sammys, tammys p*ss take threads ,,,,, am i wrong or has site changed to the p*ss take site ?
Guest Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 As Moderator, created this thread from another thread on Racing Pigeons. Rockinrick has a valid point - lordcornwallis's thread was on problems racing his pigeons, I cut the thread twice, one to take out banter, other to create this thread.
Ronnie Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 well i think sammy and harky have said it all really. It is turning into a pisstake site
JADE Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 well i think sammy and harky have said it all really. It is turning into a pisstake site I totally agree
rockinrick Posted May 6, 2007 Author Report Posted May 6, 2007 i am all for a bit of fun but surely the guys can make their own threads not hijack someone elses ? i also think that sometimes it goes a bit to far ;D
mark Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 if you have something to say off topic just use your pm button,
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 i am all for a bit of fun but surely the guys can make their own threads not hijack someone elses ? i also think that sometimes it goes a bit to far ;D sometimes it just takes one post to lead on to something else , it is never intentional to hijack threads, and as for going to far , the majority of the posts are between a lot of us who are friends, dont think we have a go at anybody who is not, well except for harky when his dad is away and he gets into the drinks cabinet and goes aff his head
DOVEScot Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 I think the whole site needs looked at, being a scot have had threads taken off because I asked questions, no explanation or reason given by moderators. I find quite a few times if a moderator starts or is involved in threads, even though it is banter or chit chat is is left to run. The banter sometimes is cruel/near the bone sometimes but some of the criticisim is justified. And south of the border has some p#ss heads of their own so don't just lay all the blame on the scots p#ss heads and by the way were p##s heeds ;D Have a look at the other sites like www.pigeon-chat.com and see how they list things like moderators for one thing

rockinrick Posted May 6, 2007 Author Report Posted May 6, 2007 the simple reason is everytime i wanna read wat a member has wrote i end up reading wat the terrible trio think about each other and it usually goes on for 5-6 pages lmao
Webmaster Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 I created the 'Chit-Chat' board for anyone wanting to post up banter, an effort to stop topic hijacking. Dont be surprised, or put out if topics are split, on other boards to cut this 'banter' out. As stated above there is the Chit-Chat board, and also the Chat Room. Therefore no reason for it to crop up in threads.

How do you expect us mortals to tow the line when your deciples don't lead by example, In fact the opposite, they start chit chat and take part in hijacking threads in the main board, Leave threads running if one of them start it even though it was or becomes banter Delete or remove threads without any reason given This thread is a classic example.....The person that started the thread complaining about hijacking sites was quoted as doing the same thing himself earlier Its easy lay down the rules, warn or yellow card offenders, time ban or red card offenders but give players a means to complain about bad refereeing ITS UP TO YOU WEBMASTER KEEP AND CONTROL A GOOD SITE OR JUST LEAVE IT THE WAY IT IS A FREE FOR ALL I would appreciate an answer or a comment please

I have moved one to Chit-Chat, but the others deal with quite valid topics (one about Amtrak, and a thankyou for the Fifer). The main point is that there are no hard and fast rules! What banter covers is a grey area, and I wouldnt expect all members to agree when a post is turning, and that is no different for the moderators. It surely about a balance, and it is obvious that recently that that balance has swung in a certain direction. The moderators, and myself cannot be sat on here watching every topic, at every hour of the day. We require the co-operation of the membership to work with us on this problem. Banter doesnt happen if there aren't replies. I dont see my job as 'laying down the rules', an online community is about adapting to the requirements prevailing at the time. Reflecting rather than influencing member opinion and debate. None of us gets it right every time, and indeed if you dig deep enough you will probably find a reply from me that you could call banter :)
Guest Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 well i think sammy and harky have said it all really. It is turning into a pisstake site are sammy and harky the only ones to do is that all the names you can remember or are you scared in case you upset some of your mates or are you a nigel no mates ,banter is banter and if you look at the thread a bit more close then you will see that it was not harky or myself who started it so maybe you should do a bit more research before you open you big gub ;D ;D ;D
Linda Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 To be honest I enjoy the FRIENDLY banter (which is what it is) some times a thread gets a bit heavy or long winded but a bit of cheery banter along the way keeps me for one interested in readying the next posts.
Guest Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Me too Linda and it was all in good humour last night,no bad language or nastiness ..nothing wrong with it and it would all have fizzled out naturally within a few minutes if some people had not got stroppy and inflamed the situation.Ok only thing wrong with it was it was off topic, but even when it was moved to it's own thread some people were still having a go :)
Guest Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 yes just a bit fun, alf and harky are away to dry out :)well untill the weekend ;D

None of us gets it right every time, and indeed if you dig deep enough you will probably find a reply from me that you could call banter :) You seem to have missed the fundimental point, there seems to be rules for some and not for others with the moderators, there is no rules but there is a code of conduct which when certain people stretch it, the unfairness begins to show If certain names crop up then they seem to be single out and the oppsite the others actions are ignored Most of the banter on the main board is done between aquaintences shall we say, so it is seen by the majority for maximum impact, what's the point in slagging each other in a private message or on a forum nobody watches unless it starts on the main board forum
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 aye that would be like me sending you a PM DOVESCOT saying you were a crackpot, what use would that be ;D

Main Board is just as you say, our Main Board and is for pigeon-related topics. There is a Chit-Chat board for this kind of stuff, and it has no business being on the Main Board. Think I'm right in saying that you complained about threads constantly being moved 'unpicking the knitting?' and this is the main reason for it - posting everything to the main Board. Lucky we don't have a toilet board on here, isn't it? Would not be moderators you want but sh*house cleaners. So if you want to slag people off, make sure you do it on your own thread or on a thread set up for the purpose, and on the right Board. Otherwise it'll be deleted.

Typical politition answer the part that suits or is easy to pick out Fair comment about the banter, but be fair about it, You may be the most consistant if not the most prolific at deleating or moving threads, but you only seem to do it to certain ones or should I say you ignore the threads and let them run, especially if an other moderator starts or is party to the thread Also you made an accusation against me but when prove you were wrong never appologised or retracted it, if fact when I asked if only one family member was allowed to register again, no reply and thread was totaly removed, no explanation given, my youngest son waited nearly two weeks to get valdation email
