Guest stb- Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 Do you mean when I treat with harkers canker tablets do not use aqua guard.Harkers tablets is it a preventive or cure?yes i would not put it in the water the day i gave the tablet or the day after ,, i dont really understand the preventative bit if the birds aint got any canker ,, if you give them a tablet it wont stop them catching it again after a week has past , so i would say its a cure ,, i would say that the preventative course is to knock out any light infestation of canker that the birds have
OLDYELLOW Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 Lugols iodine in water as a preventative ronidizol 10% if have canker , but best to test and treat according to your vet
Guest IB Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 My advice would be to find out what your pigeons' canker levels are, by getting a swab test. If you read what the vets publish in pigeon press about canker, they don't recommend treating background levels. And if you do need to treat, don't use the same 'active ingredient' - they are antimicrobials and resistance does build up against them - rotate them.
