Guest peter.j Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 i always thought it was a site where you could pick up a bird cheap but it seems that the prices of birds have gone way past anything i could afford i am all for selling to help pay the corn bill i agree with racer no wonder there arent to many newbies ,it used to be a working mans sport ,it still is you just have to work as a fat cat for ici or something...pete
just ask me Posted July 31, 2008 Author Report Posted July 31, 2008 i dont mind birds hitting high prices its just it could turn into a advertiseing site as ive seen from from 1 or 2 members
cosmodriver Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 i think its down to the site admin/mods ,if it aint broke, dont try and fix it , the idea of a forum is to encourage new members etc, same as in the ''sport'' , reading threads like this is enough to put any noob off imo , i have given deets to a couple of members to get birds, dont matter who but its the same thing..you might be in the same boat one day ...shame these threads get started.... ps,i have a unrelated forum i pay for myself and hosting etc only costs £3:99 per month,so its not the money is it ... bernie

gangster Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 i can see were j/a/m is coming from as i thought all donations go into the basics fund that helps good causes so a fair donation is a good thing abviously in chris s case donations 2 cancer another good thing....and i know the majority of lads here selling a few do donate its the fly by nights that just join n sell n are gone that are the problem....

Guest peter.j Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 so in this case of fly by nights as gangster so rightly put it wouldnt it be better if a limit was put on of you have to post x amount of times before you can use the sales board,,,,pete

Guest mikkey Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 its up to the moderators to sort out if they think someones taking the p*ss then they can sort it but people do need to buy birds from time to time so why not buy from people you can trust or where you can get a reference.......just like you can on this site

DOVEScot Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 well a we cant help that really there will allways be 1 or two about but all im saying is u can come on hear have a laugh have a good read find out about who is winning just ive seen 1 or 2 members useing it there on persnall advertiseing agency We all know the ones that only post when they are selling birds, apart from the banter where you will pay megabucks for my pigeons, I must add I have never sold a bird on the site, this year I have rehomed over 100 birds from Billy's lofts all for free and gave away over 100 birds this year to members, new starters and restarters Although I have have paid a lot of money for the stock I have, I have also got some gift and cheap birds from friends that I have made on the site :-/
DOVEScot Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 the site might be free to members m8 but someone has to pay for it ...stand corrected bernie Maybe not, there are sites that are free to run
Guest chrisss Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 i might be wrong here [and will get shot down for it ,why not its been that sort of a day] but we all know [most of the time] who these guys are and avoid them, why should some poor sod with a few extra birds have to pay a[the] going rate for selling birds, the same as a "big seller" out to mug someone with junk?
