chrisbonnie Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 Just wondering lads I got a few stock birds last week, as I want them to lay eggs asap, I tried pairing them myself, and not let nature take it's course What I did was simply lock them in a box with each other One of the paIrs are happy as larry, but the other ones don't seem to be gelling, they're not killing each other or anything like that, but they're just sitting on opposite sides of the box another thing, i let them out this morning, and noticed the hen jumped into another lads box, should i let her make up he rown mind, or should i persist with my plan?
grizzal Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 as you said you want them paired asap, just let her pick her own mate, alot less hassal [jmo]all the best paul
Guest IB Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 This is why I try my chosen pairs together for an hour the weekend before pairing date, just to make sure they will take. Most of the times you'll get a positive reaction, they sweep through the bars at each other; or preen each other through the bars. But I've had one or two occasions that one or both of the pair shows no interest, and worse, when the cock or hen start throwing pecks through the bars. I think your only option is to split them and try them with other mates.
