oldguy Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 Whats the best way of getting rid of flies from the loft, i seem to get hundreds of the little buggers, i use a flynet over the door, fly papers inside the entrance... but could do to have something inside the main loft area the loft is washed out each week so its not the amount of poop on the floor thats the attraction kev
Guest IB Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 There must be something attractive to them in there. My guess would be smell, and its usually things they don't like the smell of that are used to deter them. Eucalyptus and Citronella are two of the commonest scents. Ordinary garden lime (for example 'floor white') also neutralises smells: no smell, no attraction, no flies.
Guest 67ghirl Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 We are using on of these elctric fly 'zappers' and it has certainly cut down the number of flies. Just a wee word of caution on fly papers! don't have them in an area where your birds are as they can make a real mess of their feathers .................as we discovered with one of our YB'S!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was found hanging wrapped up in the paper. Glad to say it made a full recovery though!
oldguy Posted July 25, 2008 Author Report Posted July 25, 2008 Thanks guys for the tips, i will be trying various smellies over the next few days, and YES ive had a YBird fly into the flypapers, READY PLUCKED comes to mind when they are unwrapped kev

It eradicates the loft of Ticks, mites, wasps, lice, mosquitos, moths, and all types of flys . I am plagued by humidity around my loft and flys of all discriptions come with these conditions so i tried this product and never in two seasons have i seen a fly inside my loft ...This to me was a miracle as my loft held swarms of flys Previous .. the wife even tried it inside the greenhouse and it worked in there also I call it the magic potion . It is very potent stuff and there are strict guidelines for use but at around £9.00 a bottle it is well worth the investment ... you can only but try and see.. DAVID
