Hey Peter, if you can lay your hands on Creosote you won't want for anything else. Its the best wood treatment around bar none. If you do the corners of your nest boxes it keeps them Pest free too

yea john its trying to get the stuff thats the problem .......and yes maiden ..i take your point ....i just hate the fact that most paints ect only hold the water and dampness out to a certain degree and cant withstand the weather we get .....my small loft ...i varnished one side of it with exteriour stuff ...3,4 coats ect ....dampness still came threw on it ...i thought bloody hell what do you need to do apart from cover it with felt or tarpaulin to keep the damp and rain from penetrating the wood.

you can buy poly carbon sheets at £3 per sheet they are 1/8 thick they are black comes in 8x4s you could use then with PVC 2 " slats Jasen builders sell them

not sure how long they would last
