hi i was wondering i have an 24ft x 7ft loft it has an 4inch over hang at the front and an 6in over hang at the back im guna put some small vents in the front as i feel the ventalation is not right do u think this will be ok

you can never have too much ventilation where pigeons are concerned !!!!  the more the better  !!!!!

My lofts have onduline roofs and that is the only ventilation and the pigeons look great the loft is dry, no smells and they fly well as well, due to moving to an allotment I have just had a new loft built for youngsters 12 x 5 and it took 4 sheets at £9-28 to do the roof it don't need felting and will last you couldn't get your roof felted for that let alone buy the wood as well.

if you havent got any vents at the back ?? Iwould run a 6in gap of wire right across the back, high level, so as any air comes in its got some were to leave

if there is no air coming in at floor level the air flow coming and and going out at roof level can not draw the stale air up from floor level.

buy some smoke bombs easiest way to test if your ventilation is working if smoke billows out you know you have it right

good ventilation is important dont make them too small it better to have a good air flow because ya dont want a drafty loft

i have 3" soffit vents all round the top of my loft

do you keep pigeons in all 3 stages of that loft

Keep any vents away from the south west winds as they are generally the damp ones also north easterly winds are the cold ones. As much as you can in the other directions, soffit vents are great along the tops of the loft if you don't have gaps on the wall plates. Breathable ridge caps on peak roofs stops the foul air being trapped

needs air at the bottom level [something like clockmans] would even put them in the sides ,, the stale air will rise, to the top , where you seem to have ample ventilation,,
