Guest skippersworld Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Ok, what i feed my birds is just your normal bird feed from the petstore, which i also mix a bit more black sunflower seed as i know they love them! I have 7 birds so i feed them about 3/4 of a pint glass!! Was just wondering if this feed is fine and just general tips really! thanks guys!
OLDYELLOW Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 what brand is your first mix ???? sunflower seeds will put fat on birds hence why there use sparingly in mixes , what type of pigeon are you feeding ???
Guest skippersworld Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Hello, to tell you the truth i am not really sure on what type it is!! Just know its a mixed bird feed! I am feeding 1 racer, 1 lahore, what i believe to be Helmet pigeons x2 and x3 fantails.
OLDYELLOW Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 with fancy birds they dont like alot of the bigger beans and pulses ,they prefer small maples , mung beans , tares , popcorn maize , paddy rice and wheat and dari and a very small amount of linseed
Guest skippersworld Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Ok, cool!! Will see what variety i can get for them!! =]
Jacobasmith Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 Ok, cool!! Will see what variety i can get for them!! =] Hi Tommy, Your feed is normal wild bird seed. Try that stuff from the feed place in Happisburgh, I get mine from there, friendly people and low prices.Just ask for Pigeon economy mix.

You will get barley and wheat from most farms at a fiver for 25Kgs. Only feed enough to do your seven birds at a go and this will ensure they get a good mixed diet and will stop them eating only what they like (sweety's) Whole barley is good for the gut and is said to help against high cocci count. I find it improves the droppings as it is high in fibre. Have fun with your birds.
