Guest neil Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 Well done Mike.Neil, looking at your times, you had a cracking race.a.t.b. RobertRobert, would you belive it but when i arrived home from work on Friday night and opened the young bird parting there was a cat in there,it had gone through the ets trap (it tapers from 11" to 4" and 6" high over the pad and i thought a cat wouldnt go through and drop down)I shooed i gently out as you do and thought my season was over.I put the birds out even though it was raining heavily and going dark, they flew for about 30 mins and were nervous on landing but came in(bar 1 who was sitting.I had them out again on sat morning and they flew 45 mins,i was still undecided and thought it will depend on how they trapped, they landed and came in o.k. so i played safe as i had 14 y/hens and 7 y/cocks i decided to send 7 hens.I think the cat was a fully grown but young so it didnt do any physical damagePerhaps i should have kept it and put it in every week before basketing.regardsNeil
Robert Hyde Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 Neil,it must have been a black one for luck.Had a phone call this afternoon, one of the birds from the race was in a farm in Neath, flown out,but all right otherwise.
