Guest Mader631 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 My New experimental Drop trap door. Have to paint tomarrow & close up & fix the top wire, built this trap today.........I'll see if I have to shorten it too. The birds will tell me tomarrow, see how they like it. Looks crazy but it might work...............I wanted moire light in, with out having a bob trap.

Guest Mader631 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 Have to set a 4" gap black tomarrow to let birds trap in tomarrow & to have a Lock that locks shut at night & a lock to keep the door open during the day when I want the Birds to run back & forth into the Aviary...............................
chickadee Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 Good pictures, very similar to this one
pjc Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 looks good although i'd just have a square hole with a couple of bob wires and before you let the birds out shut them up in the flight and get them coming in through it before you try and use it for real!

pjc Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 with an arch shaped hole as above the birds will want to go through the middle and not the sides, if racing with ets you want them all going through asap and not in single file.

Silly me, I thought you meant a single square hole and not a long one for more that one bird
Guest Mader631 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 yeah, have to see how it work today.................
Guest Mader631 Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Had to shorted my Trap..............after I shortened it, the birds traped right away!!!!!!!! No joke, not even 2 mins & one droped in the rest followed!!! I think the clear poly window on the drop trap helped, it drew them in........they cold see down & straight across with this drop trap........................simple to make, the wood was FREE , the Poly window $3.00 & the hinges $6.00. here's photo of the trap shortened................
