abbeypap Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 i agree clyde still waiting for explanation how unikon is the best when all do the same job at the end of day All ETS perform a basic task, to time your pigeon into the loft. Anything on top of that is personal preference. Be it add ons, service or price.

Be it add ons, service or price. agree end of the day it was made to time your pigeons in for you instead of waiting and taking the rubber from the leg any extra stuff is extras it was made for basically automatic pigeon clocking.
Guest bobbyg Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 The club that I am a member of has 5 different systems:- Tipes,Bricon,Unikon,Tauris and Benzing. Some of the members have been shown how to set all the different systems through each and all of the different club units. Which means that any member may attend marking night with just his clock and univese cable and no matter which club unit is being used that night he can get his pigeons marked easily. As far as which one is the best, they all have their pro`s and con`s. The one you can afford or does something that suits you is the best one for you. They all mark and read much the same, the rest is down to software.

Guest bobbyg Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 Not important which club unit is used as all clocks are COMPATIBLE thr`o their supplied free univese cable
Guest spin cycle Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 Not important which club unit is used as all clocks are COMPATIBLE thr`o their supplied free univese cable so if i went to a marking station with say a 'tauris' and they had say 'unikon' would it be their responsibility to ensure they had a univers cable for my clock ?

If you always take your own universal cable and you will never go wrong.
demolition man Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 Apologies I'd just like to bring this back to the top , in case there is someone with info on Tipes who has not seen the post Tipes have got a stand at telford my mates just won one for winning the National i said i will vistit the stall and give him feed back on the system, if your not going remined me and i will sent you the info that i get if you can wait that long . the shows on the 28th Regards
Guest spin cycle Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 If you always take your own universal cable and you will never go wrong. good point . what i'm thinking is that if i were to turn up with a clock and cable A/ they might say they don't want to plug it in B/ it might not work C/ it may disrupt their clock....making me popular (dizzy) or D/ it may break my clock. also i'd have to buy the univers cable (circa £70?)....so perhaps its best to find out what master they are using at marking station and get the same make.

A universal cable is just that "UNIVERSAL" one fits all. No reason other than people trying to disrupt things for your clock not to be set via another manufacturers club system. Not sure about other ETS but all Benzing come supplied with a universal cable.

Guest bobbyg Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 Abbeypap is quite correct in fact is more experienced than most of us. Until people see and experience the different manufacturers equipment being used compatibly with other manufacturers equipment then we will realise that any system is a good system and have the confidence to buy what suites them and not worry about what others have. THE ARE ALL COMPATIBLE.

At our club we have UNIKON and BRICON,I always keep the 2 separate i.e.I never mark the BRICON through the UNIKON and visa versa,I know many do this with the universal cable but I would sooner set both systems up and keep them separate,I know of several fanciers who have had problems when having their clock set on another system and then when you ask the makers whats wrong they say it must be the other system thats at fault.I would always advise anyone to have their clock set on the proper system if possible.I know there will be many that say they have had no problems but this is just my opinion.
Guest bobbyg Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 I know of scores of fanciers who have had problems setting their clocks with thier own club systems never mind another manufacturers equipment Its all about confidence in using the hardware. If in your club pigeon man the unikon club unit went down would you not carry on marking unikons using the bricon club unit?? THEY ARE ALL COMPATIBLE

THEY ARE ALL COMPATIBLE I would yes but only as a last resort.Put it this way they are supposed to be compatible, only at the last RPRA meeting the Manager was going to write to the different manufacturers reminding them that they must be compatible so someone must still be having problems with compatibility.
Guest bobbyg Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 yes letters have been sent to the manufacturers but this is mainly to highlight the fact that each manufacturer has closed thier rings and compatability was supposed to include rings at all stages

pearse1888 Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 tipes is a goods system .. boy in my club has one .. really easy to use and had no bother with it ... i have a bricon and thats ok 2 ..
Guest bobbyg Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Tipes is a good system robust equipment easy to use. At the start of ETS with the RPRA we could assign, read and set all rings from any manufacturer through the bricon cub unit. After so called upgrades all manufacturers have closed their rings for all but their own system, hiding behind the usual excuse " we can only guarantee our own equipment". Balderdash is thepolite answer.

Guest bobbyg Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 like any consumer if you only have 1 supplier then price and service are at the will of the manufacturer. not impossible but if the supply of chips for 1 manufacturer was interrupted ie colombovac then that system would not be able to be used, where as if the rings were universal (compatible) then the choice would be there for the user.
Guest peter.j Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 any body any links for tauris demos on you tube

I'd like to thank Bobbyg for his candor and knowledge (and everyone who has contributed on the thread) . His has been some of the better information I have read, hopr the thread continues with good healthy debate and information Thank you very much Alan
blackpied Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 Hi all I do all the our club results and we use Tipes;Bricon and Unikon I looked at all systems before buying and ended up getting Tipes, that was three years ago and now believe correct choice taking into account the amount of updates the rest requires to keep up to date and what features Tipes has above the rest
