been given an stb quartz,  but can anyone tell me if the clock on it should be ticking/correct time with it having a battery........or if it only starts working when the clock is set and struck off ? thanks.  :)

there is a button to start it off, but if you turn the key and stamp it it should start if this is set to off, there is also a button you can press to test the batteries,
