This weekend I had 29/31 birds home from the 72 mile race and had one reported about 20 miles away. The bird was kept safe with food and water in an large hamster cage until I could collect. The lady was more than willing to wait a couple of days when I advised I would be in her area training the birds midweek. I took the birds training and Knew her address was pretty close. What I did not expect was for her house to be next door to the playing field where I train from. My birds have been liberated there about 10 times in the last 3 weeks and the bird dropped in less than 50meters away from the training spot from the race? What was she thinking? Was she going to sit and wait for me to give her a lift home or even wait for her loft mates to come and take her the rest of the way? She's home safe and well now but I hope when she back to fitness she wont try to return to her recent new home! :D:D

I have read something like this before

A guy lost 3 birds on the saturday race, went to his usual training spot on the monday are there are two of them pecking around.

My dad had a similar situation, a non fancier cought a stray and brought it to my fathers in a box.

My father put the bird into an empty section, a courier collected it the next day and took it 50 miles or so home, next morning what is pecking round dads garden but the same stray.

Well when I used to flyt the pouters my mate had his doocot in the garden and his pigeons in a walk in cupboard in his room so no one would steal them but when he was letting the out he never took them to the doocot to flyt them he always just let them go out his window and aventually some of the birds homed to the window ledge in stead
