Help With Laptop

Is there anyone who can help with how to get my laptop back working. I think the battery is knackered, but it wont run off the mains either. When you try to switch it on, its on for a second then cuts out.

 

Has anyone any ideas?

could be a number of things mate, battery being just one the cooling fan might not be working causing over heating which will need replacing if its a problem with the motherboard then it will be a expensive fix suggest having it seen to by a pc specialist

remove battery, hold on button down for 30sec, then plug mains charger in without battery. If that works replace battery and you should be sorted. They suffer a build up of static!

Ok cheers guys will give it ago. Just I have some data on there i dont really want to use, but think the fan maybe a problem too.

 

Is there anyway to get out the memory of it?

You can buy a unit that you remove your hard drive from the pc, connect it up and extract/read the data. Try maplins.

Will have to look at removing the hard drive. Has anyone any experience of this?

It depends what make of laptop it is, some are easier than others to take appart. You may find a local repair shop that will do it for you and save you data to disc for you. Don't bother with the big stores they won't be interested and will want to charge you a fortune.
