Guest Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 how are the bob wires locked? haha not put the locking mechanism on yet in fact nim still thinking on that part lol well spotted
Guest Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 and weres your ets pad gonna be? im gonna run up and swipe the pad under its leg lol no im ive not got ets yet maybe next year and why wont my smilies work
mark croker Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 Looks sound, have you put the bits that close the bobs in one, i used to make seperate boards to close each section of bobs, using 6mm ply, wooden washing pegs, and 1nch batton so you can let each bird in on its own so that they are not locked in for ages and get stressed
Guest Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 how are the bob wires locked? and i would put a spar across the front under the landing board so that when the birds drop in they cant turn and come out the front underneath as i think the gaps a bit big jmo dave
pjc Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 made a good job, only comment would be the landing board looks slippery and may put birds off from landing on it directly!

Guest Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 made a good job, only comment would be the landing board looks slippery and may put birds off from landing on it directly! pjc the wood has like a tread plate pattern on top its smooth on 1 side and rough on the other its the stuff they use on trailers all the rough sides are where the birds will land
Guest Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 Hi dave there is a spar on hinges in the pic it only leaces a 2 or so inch gap when closed tho it looks bigger in the pics looks good another reason for the spar is to stop wild birds getting into your loft dave
Guest Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 looks good another reason for the spar is to stop wild birds getting into your loft dave ah never thought of that maybei should make it cover the whole bottom does any one no why my smilies wont work

Guest Owen Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 I have to say that I like these speed traps. To make them work really well, put an internal landing board just below the level of the trap. Construct it with an edging so that seed can not spill off it. Train your birds to trap onto the inside board and you will be amazed at how quickly you can clock them. I could clock as quickly as with ETS. and as long as you train them properly they will not turn in the trap and you will go on to sicken your Clubmates. And the bonus is that you do not need to scare the living daylights out of the birds and ruin them for future races.

mark croker Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 yeah thats what im going to do how does the washing peg work Glue two wooden pegs on per hole, i like to use mitre fast, then glue on a square of 6mm ply with 1x1 batton on the end, so as you open the peg the batton comes away from the bobs and lets the bird enter, sorry i dont know how better to explain, hope that helps and my smilies work
