oldguy Posted January 10, 2010 Author Report Posted January 10, 2010 its interesting to read the comments as to wether the boxes work as nest boxes or not, ive just started to use the boxes again this year as i put the birds down to breed and so far i'm getting 100% success in them being used re the aspect of cleaning. i have two sets of boxes, and replace any dirty boxes with a clean and prepared box, then simply wash with a bleach solution and rinse with a hosepipe during the non breeding weeks they have been folded flat and stored out of the way, i find them a win win product in many ways, price - easy to maintain - easy to store - and would be easy to obtain more if i wanted to add to the number i use good luck to all during the breeding weeks kev
Tipplerman Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 I am a tippler fancier, and looked at these boxes in wilkinsons today, my birds are half the size of racers,i wouldnt use these as think they to small for birds to tread in especially with the pan inside, and forget it if you want two pans inside box
aaron21 Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 i,ve been and got some of these boxes just cutting out now
Guest Mav Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 Just ordered some on line so that i can pick them up next weekend, £1.74 each, Great for starters like me who`s not sure what the future holds and don't want to put hundreds of pounds into something i have not been involved with before. Mav.

Still debating trying walkers crisps boxes though as with selling my stock loft will use a converted garden shed for the couple of pairs of stock (I think)

Guest Denny Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 Old Guy - Did you re use your Wilkinsons Nest boxes this year? Are they as good as when you first got them? http://www.pigeonbasics.com/blahdocs/uploads/wilkinson_nest_boxes_7673.jpg
BLUERON Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 i got 8 of these for my rollers looking good for them. and after i take them all out and give good wash .
mac1 Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 during a shopping run to wilkinson's i noticed their fold flat storage boxes, £2 each, thought i would try a few as nest boxes, they should be easy to spray clean and at that price they can be binned at the end of summer, or if still in good condition flattened and stored for the winter kev are you a gold member
