I use Sattinetts, they learn fast and can fly well and have some good color patterns.

Bad news is the hawks like them also. Just had one caught thru the wire in the flypen yesterday.

i use a pair of huge feather legged crossbreed things(very stunning to look at especially the cock), they are a cock and a hen and are both well into there teens agewise, i dont even bother to clip them down anymore they know there job better than i do, i only use them for the youngbirds to teach them to eat ect and to trap on race day as i use open door system, for the old birds i rely on the sputnick trap and lots of training to get them to happily go in  ;D

chatrace how the hell did the hawk get that thru the wire like that ?! i keep my stock birds with free acsess to a flight pen like that and you have me worried now that mr effing hawk will get them as iv seen one cruising but always assumed that all birds were safe as a had nothing out eg everything behind wire

was it a hawk, crows (carrion) have a habit of getting birds through the wire etc.
