TGRASSIE Posted December 13, 2006 Author Report Posted December 13, 2006 Memphis Tenneessee U.S.A why do you ask? do the fantails fly much?
THE FIFER Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 get them young and keep them tame if hungry will sit around u etc, fantails or any pigeon really, but if its for pets fantails garden fantails would do but they do fly.
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 giant runts, there like big chickens great pets give them a peanut or two and they will follow you like a dog

I would want something that flies around a bit, but that WON'T "fly away and not return". Jim
TGRASSIE Posted December 14, 2006 Author Report Posted December 14, 2006 thanks for all the replies the reason i did not want something that flies a lot is because i have a bad falcon problem already out of 17 birds i have 5 left he even caught one in the avairy all though he did not get to eat it he did kill it so maybe something on the ground and a little bigger than the birds i have would be the ticket i think i am going to go eith the giant runts or the modenas thanks tripp grassie memphis tn
birdman55678 Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 If its a falcon you have bothering you then it won't do anygood to get a larger pigeon, if it fly at all the falcon will take them. Best bet is to find a falcon man and get him to trap it and remove it to another area, there is also a easier way but we will not go into that here. good luck. Ed
symbro Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 not sure how falcons compair to hawks... actually didnt think we had falcons in usa. anyhow you can use a few different items to help keep hawks away. a mirror ball, fake owl or even the owl ball. also might keep your birds in during migrating season. ps parlor rollers... i dont think they fly at all... they just roll around on the ground. i think they are useless... but then again others love them!
TGRASSIE Posted December 15, 2006 Author Report Posted December 15, 2006 YEA I have seen 2 falcons in the trees behind my house and seen one falcon come and take one of my birds off of my roof and I have seen 2 red tailed hawks circling my loft so I do not know if it is the Hawks or Falcons the one thing I do know is that everytime I let my birds out I end up at least one short of what I let out sometimes two and I have been pondering the alternative to a falcon guy trapping the bird???????? Thanks Tripp :
symbro Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 the mirror ball on jedds.com seems to have been working for me. i had it up during the flying season this year and only lost one bird to a hawk. it was a month ago and it looked like a younger hawk... so i locked my birds up until migration season is over and took the mirror ball down. i will put it back up probally about a week or so before i start flying again.
