chickadee Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Can anyone help? we have had two Indian saddlebacks for a while now, at first they were going through the motions of mateing, treading and even nest building and not laying any eggs. Then someone told us to separate them for about 10-14 days and then put them back together again, which we did, since then she has been laying eggs but, none of them seem to be fertile and come to nothing. Someone else told us to clip right round the vent on both birds and let them try again, which we have. She has layed more eggs since then and we are now awaiting results. does anyone have anymore ideas as to what else we can do if these eggs turn out to be unfertile too? :)
Wiley Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 going to be a silly question but are you sure there not two hens? If not how old is the cock bird
DOVEScot Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 going to be a silly question but are you sure there not two hens? If not how old is the cock bird Definitely a pair, the male is an 03 bird and the female is an 04, he used to be cock of the loft before we moved them
Wiley Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 still a youngish pigeon really cant really understand why he wouldnt be filling. If she wasnt laying any eggs id say she was defiantly barren, but since she been laying i couldnt really answer.
