I just want to tell you guys and gals, how much I enjoy Pigeon Basics.

Stuck out here in The Oregon Boonies I often think of England and Pigeon Racing there.  If there was such as person as "Scotty", I would get him to beam me up and drop me off in England for the Channel Racing (unfortunately not this year)

I am getting very excited about bidding for birds on the Auction, then at least I'll have a few flying for me at home and I am really looking forward to flying my Lot for the buyer, they'll be off my best I can assure you of that.

The first thing I do when I get up in the morning is read pigeon basics while I'm having my coffee.  I've come to count the regular contributors as friends and look forward to reading the postings every day.

Next year if I can get birds to the UK at a reasonable cost I'm going to send a couple of pairs of breeders to Jimmy white (yes I know you'll take good care of them Jimmy) and send the babies to one loft races in the UK

Thanks you guys for bringing some sanity into my life

Sincerely

Hyacinth, I couldnt agree more. Ive just discovered Basics and I cant believe the response Ive had from one question. I've sat here all winter not talking to anyone about pigeons (Missus dont want to know) and as a comparitive novice I dont get to see many people from our club and now Ive found all these wonderful people to talk to - GREAT SITE - GREAT PEOPLE - GREAT SPORT - GREAT BRITAIN!!?

I feel I must add a little here.

I think both countries could learn a lot from each other as regards The Pigeon Sport.

I think the UK should set up a Help a Beginner programme similar to the one run by the American Racing Pigeon Union and stop the Luddite approach to ETS.  Before you jump on me I know a lot of people can't afford it but for those who can, let them have the choice.  When I saw Steve's ETS I told him in no uncertain terms that if I was going to race the Young Bird team he's better get his ass in gear and buy me a proper clock, but after using the ETS for a season I changed my thoughts.  You can keep a good track of the number of birds in the loft I find it invaluable when I'm training.

Now as far as the USA goes, there are no rules relating to the collection of stray birds and more often than not if you report a bird to the owner, he/she doesn't give a tinkers cuss and most of them will not lift a finger to retreive their lost birds which gives pigeon racers an extremely bad name especially with the animal activists. Personally I would hang any one by the "Grunhalles" for not retreiving a lost bird.  A bout three years ago I was contacted by the man in charge of a boy scout camp to let me know that one of our club birds had landed there and didn't look too great, I told the owner and he said that we wasn't going to drive 20 F-----g miles to pick a f______g bird up and the bird died.  You can guess what a black eye pigeon flyers got after that one.

Well I'm off in the morning to attend a futurity race in Utah which will be flown on Saturday, party time !!!!!!!!!! Back Monday evening

You were one of the first people here to respond to me when I came on the forum;) Good luck with the race Linda. :)

Although I can't contribute much I also read the forum every morning and evening and I'm certainly learning loads. I wouldn't like to be without it.  Thanks guys.
