But the maize will turn in to fat very quick n the young turn out nice n rounded. You can use any corn just feed up at regular times so the old want to feed n not pick about ull get cracking young birds

I feed a lot of corn 30 to 50 percent dependant upon time of year as of late my birds have been fielding about a mile from my house there is a field there and you guessed it it has a bunch of unharvested corn the birds seem to love it they wont hardly touch what I give them in the loft but boy are they nice now I think this corn is probably been better as it hasnt been ran through a kiln

VIP HAS VERY LITTLE MAIZE CONTENT WESTY  AS YOU WILL NOTICE WHEN FEEDING THEY TEND TO LEAVE MAIZE TILL LAST

thats strange as my birds go for the maize first and leave all the maple peas till last,i also have some conditioning seed or red band and they get a pince after every feed and they seem to love the sead.

I prefer popcorn type over dent corn. Dent corn has an open end that tends to grow unnoticable mold that is bad for the pigeon. Popcorn has a closed end and is not as likly to grow any molds there. The pigeon also seem to prefer the smaller size, especially YB's.
