Guest Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 Can anyone confirm this postting just received from the American Pigeon Mailing List saw a report this morning from England where one poor flier's neighbors started shooting him birds as they loft flew, claiming that they were afraid his birds were carring avian flu. It was either CBS or ABC that I was watching at the time and it was being reported by an English reporte
Guest jason Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 haven't heard anything about that, hyacinth, but a bloke had to resign from our club cause his neighbours were shooting his pigeons about 3 years ago, and the year before last, I had one reported shot dead a mile from the loft and worse of all it was my favourite one. these people should be shot in my view. > If you catch someone shooting racing pigeons and you follow it up and get a conviction, you can actually get a reward from the rpra, or so I was told!
Guest Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 Yes I think it's 50 quid, I had one of our birds hit once with a kid with an air gun, boke it's leg, the kids mother made him come and scrape out for me evey day for a month <VBG>
swilcox Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 In 2003 i was waiting for my pigeons to return from Saintes, all day long i could here shooting which isnt uncommon as there are alot of Wood Pigeons in the area! It was a east wind that day and most of the birds came back over the town, except for one 5 year old cock who had flown many times, he came down over the fields bang on line!! When he landed the blood was pooring out of him and i just knew what had happened! Rage just took me over and i grabbed a pic axe handle from the Garage and jumped in my car. About a mile up the lane i could see a car parked in a gateway so i stopped and i could see these 2 guys in a hide. I ran up to them and was suprised to here them speaking French which made me even more angry, one of the guys started to put the pigeons they had shot in a bag but before he did i managed to catch a glimpse of one racer and thats all i needed (im afraid i lost it). Im sure those two guys must have spent the night in Hospital and im sure they wouldnt be able to use those guns again! Im not proud of what i done but i enjoyed the fact that they felt the pain that the pigeon was feeling!!!!! Luckily he recovered! Stuart Wilcox
