hello, you people just do not get it,do you,it`s ok having a laugh, but this is a death nail for pigeon racing here in europe, remember it will come every year time and time again, possibly twice per year,we are small fry and will be put through the mincer by the british gov,i`m sure we will get hit hard in the next few weeks, and all the top boys in the know have said it will come back next winter with a massive blast

Listen Aarden,

We are small fry.a very small minority sport, most people call our birds Flying Rats,we got no chance,we will be the first to go against the wall, you see ,were on the edge, and we will have no help from anyone, no chance, were easy meat,it will look good for the gov to chop us to bits...it`s coming .

i got one thing to say:

pes·si·mism

n.

1: A tendency to stress the negative or unfavorable or to take the gloomiest possible view: “We have seen too much defeatism, too much pessimism, too much of a negative approach” (Margo Jones).

2: The doctrine or belief that this is the worst of all possible worlds and that all things ultimately tend toward evil.

3: The doctrine or belief that the evil in the world outweighs the good.

I'll tell you what, if a national newspaper get a hold of this thread, then there will be trouble!!!!

Agree Jason, we need to just get back to talking about the pigeons and helping each other to keep the birds healthy, and also have a bit of humour on the site. The more we talk about bird flu the more we worry ourselves and others about it.

I think you'll need to reveal the sources of your information ... then sack them for incompetence.

Avian flu is a problem in all birds across half the globe just now, so why single out Europe and racing pigeons? The major problems H5N1 causes countries where it breaks out are economic and not public health. Soon as it gets into the domestic poultry stock, every other country closes its doors to exports. Poultry export industry is worth £8bn annually to France, for example.  China & Hong Kong have already stopped imports from there.

The next few weeks are very predictable ... you don't have to be a genius or have a crystal ball - our own birds (UK, Western Europe) are due back from Africa where they have been mingling with the infected ones already causing havoc accross Central and Eastern Europe.

And the waves you are talking about are a feature of Human Flu Pandemics, totally different to the global spread of avian flu, a disease primarily of animals and birds.

I think you are in France, judging by your Monniker. I bet your fellow fanciers are really glad that they were told to keep their birds in months ago ... before this outbreak began.

Repeat after me ... I MUST be positive .. my birds and I WILL race another day ...  ;)

My friends said in Cheshire - 18 birds is being tested tonight for the bird flu and one bird died at the wildlife trust in Cheshire.

they died from slurry  poisioning from the water so that good news

GLAD YOU ARE NOT ONE OF OUR  TOP BOYS

Raymond old friend, you still have not sussed it ,have you, peter bryant has been more concerned with big pigeon dealers and their like, am i correct? lol ..because their adverts keep the top boys well oiled.

Us cannon fodder are being milked as usual, use your brains, why should any of us invest in new stock for this coming season if there is no racing,or mediocreshort stuff.

Would you breed a 100 youngbirds to have them sat on their perches all year, well many people have already bred them, probable 3,000,000 hungry mouths to be fed again this season,a hell of a lot of money , for what?so peter bryant can agree to all defra or the like tell him.lol

As for bruno`s suggestion "it`s not airborn",who says so? it will mutate to airborne ,maybe a day,a week,a month, but it will, anyone disagree?
