jimmy white Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 detective speckled for that one ;D ;D ;D ;D
birdman55678 Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 I do not mean this post to be discouraging but the toe length, and needle on cotton string can both be made to look either way (Hen or Cock). The vent smile and frown is the way the chicken people sex their ybs. It seems to run in the high 90 percentile range, and yes its smiling for the cock and frowning for the hens. Just my two cents worth here and as its only my 3rd post I hopefully didn't offend anyone. Later and have a great day. Ed
Guest Silverwings Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 good post ed ? keep them coming , the reason we post these threads is to get to the BOTTOM of things as your reply suggests ,i will be having a look at this smile and frown thing as my youngsters hatch over the next week or so ......ray
Guest shadow Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 ;)try the needle method , 9inches of cotton on needle hang above birds head as near as poss if it starts going round in circular moves its a cock straight lines i ts a hen try on some old birds to test it out cloud view I think you have got mixed up up if it swings head to tail it is a cock, round in circles is a hen if in doubt try on known cocks and hens
Guest cloudview Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 you could be right shadow its a while back since i tried it memory s, never been my strong point come to think of it nothing else as either
THE FIFER Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 PUT UR HAND OVER TO YOUNGSTERS IN THE NEST, THE ONES WHICH STAND UP WITH PUFFED NECK AND SNAP AT U ARE COCKS.
blue bar Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 if it smiles its a cock if it frans its ahen >
snowy Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 I ALWAYS LOOK FOR THE ONE WHICH STANDS UP WHEN U PUT UR HAND IN THE NEST AND PUFFS ITS NECK AND PICKES AT U AS BEING A COCK i think i must have all cocks (lol) or some evil hens.
Guest Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 Hi Try This Only with Mature pigeons or pigeons inot less that 6 weeks old Turn over pigeon in the right hand so its back is in the palm of the hand. If its a cock it will turn upright or will if you do not turn it up the right way again. If its a hen she will not turn back upright but stay upside down in the palm of the hand. When you do this it is only for less than 5 seconds and you will know. Try it with a old male and female Ex_Pat
