have a note in my info book regarding the sex determination of youngsters in the nest ,it relates to the theory the two outside claws of equal length will be a hen and one of the claws being slightly longer will be a cock ? or vice -versa anyone know of this or looked into it ? ..........ray

that's what I use to determine the sex of a baby, find it about 95% correct

the idea of toe length came up over twenty years when i use to race,it is correct in toe length,but,so long ago,unable to remember which way around,,,,ted

trying to remember way back my old dad saying that the 2 outside toes  between the centre toe can deternine the sex of the squab, the hen youngster has toes of equal length, and the cocks two outside toes are slightly differant in size, as in later ln life its the cock that treads the hen, and seemingly for grip or balance, but true or not im not sure [the old so and so was not wrong very often]thats about 50 years ago he said that :)

I read somewhere that if you look at the vent of a squab it either apears to smile or be turmed down as in a sad mouth.  Trouble is I cant remember which was cock and which was hen!  Does anyone ele know of this method? :-/
