piggy Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 hi all, with the present situation as it is i cant see my club racing much over 150 miles, so could the cocks be exercised for a one 1hr'ish session a day and perhaps 2 35 mile chucks a week? with the hens having an hourish in the morning and also being raced, as i have up to yet a loft full uf pigeons that are not tested fully yet, and i know i have some good hens, cheers stu
Guest Silverwings Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 train them when you, two them up at about 45 mile keeps them on their teos ...ray
Guest Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 I would stick to getting the cock birds right, as hens generally come from the longer harder races and may not prove themselves in sprint races. If you are limited for time like I am, I wouldnt bother training, as the cocks should keep themselves fit.
andy Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 COCKS 4 OR 5 TOSSES TO 25 MILES, AFTER THAT 45MINS ROUND THE LOFT MORNING AND NIGHT BUILDING UP TO AN HOUR IN MAY... HENS, GET THEM READY SLOWLY FOR THE FOURTH OR FIFTH RACE AND THEY WILL LAST RIGHT THROUGH THE SEASON...
speedbird Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 mine at the moment are let out they fly 45mins am then train em only upto 12miles & only on better days should get about upto 30tosses before first race, after first race no more training just 45min am & pm
Guest shadow Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 old birds should not need 30 tosses, they should work well from the loft if they are right. I only give mine 4_5 tosses just to wake them up from the winter and nver train in cold east winds.
jimmy white Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 up to 6 tosses anymore than that and they wont fly at home i might toss them if theve missed races, but wouldnt worry if i didnt,,,as long as their flying well at home with plenty of vigour.
speedbird Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 i say 30tosses only if weather is upto stratch not started yet as been too cold & never train in north east wind this early & the tosses are only 4/5 mile to start working upto 12mile only this is not training to get them fit they are already fit its learning em to race home to hen ect
