DRIES Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 FIND IT HARD TO SEE US RACING THIS YEAR , SOLENT FED GOING NORTH BIRD FLU WILL SOON BE HERE ONCE THE WEATHER WARM'S UP AND WE GET THE BIRDS FROM AFRICA HERE. KEEP YOUR BIRDS LOCKED UP AND STARVE THE SPARROW HAWKS
CREBAG Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 Dont see how keeping our birds in will starve sparrowhawks? They will be quite happy eating everything else!!!!!!!
Guest speckled Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 Well mine still go out, dont see the point in punishing the birds there daily exerscise,if we dont have the virus yet, :-/ Speckled.
jimmy white Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 be confident ,,there will be racing,, theres no bird flu here now, lets hope it stays that way,,no channel races will cause problems, but problems can be solved
THE FIFER Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 LET'S TAKE IT AS IT COMES AND AS YET WE DO NOT HAVE THE FLU IN THE UK SO AT LEASED WE HAVE RACING IN THE UK, AND HOPEFULLY MORE,
peterpau Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 Don't see why we shoudn't get some racing. It could be however that we don't get to go over the channel for maybee a few years just hope for the best and plan for the worst. Who knows.
Guest Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 My reading of it is even if there is an outbreak of bird flu in the UK, the only INTERNAL restriction will be within a 10km zone round the infected premises. So no movement of birds, shows, training or racing into or out of that zone; might knock out a race point or two and a club or two, but not UK pigeondom as a whole. First thing that usually happens when a country declares an outbreak, is every other country throws up a ban on bird products and bird movements from it. So in theory an outbreak here and other EU countries could ban us getting in for channel racing. But recently theres been a change even to that ... look at France and their AI outbreak. Not everyone has closed their borders to its poultry products AND its allowed its fanciers to let their pigeons out too AND told them racing is a possibility.
zetlandlad999 Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 Dont see why we cannot race (Inland) so lets not get carried away, until there is a definite outbreak of AI in this country, lets carry on as normal and stop putting more unwanted obstructions in the path of racing.
THE FIFER Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 IT'S WHAT THE PAPERS ARE SAYING ABOUT RACING PIGEONS AND THE FLU' AND THE PUBLIC GETTING SCARED THAT'S GOING TO PUT A STOP TO RACING PIGEONS PERIOD/
