Guest Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 Shouldn't send the birds if they don't train well.....Sean Our birds haven't see the baskets yet. and train them soon. I may send them to Mansfield
sean75 Posted April 3, 2006 Author Report Posted April 3, 2006 totally agree but these things happen 1 minute lvly weather nxt totally crap just one of them things you can loss pigeons on the best of weather but like you said its not worth taking any chances as it is a long season expecially this year with no channel
Guest Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 Sean and All I heard of two races in the States yesterday that were total smashes, these were in the Southern states where the weather is considerably warmer than here in Oregon. The first one in Tenessee was liberated in extremely bad weather conditions and at the end of the day my friend had 14 back from 36 and the other in Alabama where only one bird was timed in from a club who sent several hundred, these were put up in a tail wind and with this being the first race we feel most of the birds overflew into Georgia as several flyers had reported Alabama birds trapping in there
sean75 Posted April 3, 2006 Author Report Posted April 3, 2006 Sean Was this a race or just training? training
perk Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 2 CLUB MATES WENT YESTERDAY MORNING 15 MILES WITH 60 BIRDS, AFTER 30 MINS ONLY 7 HOME,AFTER 2 HOURS ONLY 10 MORE, UP TILL TONIGHT 15 STILL MISSING ALL RACED BIRDS.THESE ARE GOOD FANCIERS.
Guest shadow Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 The weather is not fit to be training with cold winds and heavy showers its asking for trouble, you may get birds back but it will not do them any good, its a long season, mine will probably miss the first race on the 15th if the weather does not improve.
jimmy white Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 AS IVE SAID BEFORE ID RATHER SEND A YEARLING 150 OR 200 MILE FIRST RACE IF FIT,,IN MAY, THAN SEND 60 MILE IN A COLD EAST WIND IN APRIL, THEYLL FIND IT EASIER
perk Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 to right jimmy, in 2003 i rushed my yearlings (had to many) by the end of the year i only had two out of twenty left. first three races very cold, the next year they went the fourth race at 150 miles onwards only lost two out of 18
