bewted Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 let them breed a pr youngsters and on second pr young at about 10 old try them out, will be better if access to avairy all the time,,,ted
peterpau Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 I would let 'em breed a pair of youngsters and let 'em go down on eggs again then you could try them as the second lot of eggs are due to hatch. Then if you loose 'em at least you have a pair
rockinrick Posted April 17, 2006 Author Report Posted April 17, 2006 that will take too long lol , i need them broke asap as i dont have avery , someone sujested clipping flights ,wats the views on this ??? cheers rockinrick:)
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 A SUCCESSFUL TIP I WAS GIVEN AND ONE I DID USE WHEN I STARTED BIRDS WAS TO PUT FAIRY LIQUID ON THEIR WINGS AND THIS WILL STOP THEM FLYING .
Guest coxy Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 u can soap there wings alot of ppl do this with rollers ect this is a good way of doin it but u can clip wings and make sure u clip one side more than the other as if they r both equal some birds can fly
NANCYVIEWLOFTS Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 hi get an elastic band and wrap it round the flights on one wing this will stop the bird from getting airbourne after aweek release a few of the flights so it can fly on to the shed roof then after another few days when it is familiar with your loft and surroundings take the elastic band off you should have no trouble then
rockinrick Posted April 17, 2006 Author Report Posted April 17, 2006 will the soaping of the feathers affect them besides making them stick together ?/ also will clipping one side have same affect ? cheerrs rockinrick
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 SOAPING THEIR WINGS IS NOT DETRIMENTAL IN ANY WAY.
westy Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 soap the wings up of let them lay eggs then perhaps let them out.
peterpau Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 Dip 'em in a bucket of fairy liquid and water. might do the job. Elastic band is a better idea. Clip the wings if you want to, but you'll have months to wait before they can fly propperly. All the soapy water does is take away the naturaly water repelant oils on the feathers this soon comes back, but when the birds are dry they will probably up and go. Elastic bands are often laid on the floor where the posty has been
THE FIFER Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 GIVE THEM A GOOD SOAK IN SOAPY WATER, THIS WILL AT LEASED LET THEM GET A GOOD LOOK AROUND BEFORE THEY TAKE OFF, LET THEM GET A GOOD LOOK AROUND BY MAKING A WIRE CAGE TO PUT ON TOP OF URE LOFT, SHOULD,NT HAVE MUCH BOTHER WITH FANTAILS IF THE GET A CHANCE TO SEE WHERE THEY ARE, MAKE SURE THE BIRDS U LET OUT WITH THEM HAVE HAD A FLY AROUND SO THEY WILL BE SETTLED ON THE LOFT, BETTER STILL LET THEM HASVE A BATH SO THEY WILL BE SITTING AROUND THE LOFT. GET YOUNGSTERS OFF THEM FIRST THEN U WILL AT LEASED HAVE SOMETHING
rockinrick Posted April 17, 2006 Author Report Posted April 17, 2006 thnx folkies great advise i will set to and get a cage made up ready for their arrival , cheers rockinrick
