sean75 Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 just wondering if you treat after a hold over if what treat 4
Guest marvin Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 if its a long hold over i often treat for canker
johnny11 Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 sean I feel you have to "Disinfect" rather than treat. if you put alot of effort into your birds and keep them healthy after one night in the basket you may get away with it. But once their is a holdover and the birds are fed they eat off the shavings which will be contaminated by the droppings of other pigeons maybe in not as good as health as your own. you need to give one or two days of an all round treatment. John
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 I MUST BE TALKING ABOUT THE WRONG TREAT.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 NEVER MIND THE JOKING , THE DAY AFTER EACH RACE I WAS ALLWAYS ADVISED TO USE ATEASPOON OF BAKING SODA IN A 5 PINT DRINKER AS THIS KEPT THEM HEALTHY BUT IT IS NOT A CURE FOR ANYTHING SERIOUS.
johnny11 Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Tamy the soda will give them a flush out, which is the best action John
Marky5 Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 IF THE RACE IS A HOLDOVER , THEN WE TREAT FOR CANKER RIDZOL 10% 1 TEASPOON TO 2 LITRES OF WATER.
Mike Lycett Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 We don't do anything different to be honest. I think if the birds are in good nick & in good health then they won;t catch anything. Last season we had a few holdovers & the birds weren't treated & went on to top different Fed';s etc.. so it suits us just fine
NANCYVIEWLOFTS Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 well said mike all this treating for this and that is getting out of control
keano Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 never mind the joking i always thought it was supposed to be a sport i think some people take it far to seriously. win at all costs.
Guest Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 some people want to take good care of their pigeons and keep them in good health - win or not
Guest speckled Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 Agree with mike, dont change the routine,if ya have healthy birds thay will be un affected buy any hold over,if ya need to treat, for a hold over, :-/ dont ya send to a thursday night basketing, sean, thats no diffrent to 2 days in the basket.? :-/ Just a thought Speckled :-/
Guest speckled Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 Oh forgot to say on sunday, mine have tea, camomile tea, with i think is a more gental way of getting rid of the bad toxions in the body, dont see why healthy birds need to have the RIZDOL. ???? Speck
