I feel you have to "Disinfect" rather than treat. if you put alot of effort into your birds and keep them healthy after one night in the basket you may get away with it. But once their is a holdover and the birds are fed they eat off the shavings which will be contaminated by the droppings of other pigeons maybe in not as good as health as your own.

you need to give one or two days of an all round treatment.

NEVER MIND THE JOKING , THE DAY AFTER EACH RACE I WAS ALLWAYS ADVISED TO USE ATEASPOON OF BAKING SODA IN A 5 PINT DRINKER AS THIS KEPT THEM HEALTHY BUT IT IS NOT A CURE FOR ANYTHING SERIOUS.

We don't do anything different to be honest.   I think if the birds are in good nick & in good health then they won;t catch anything.

Last season we had a few holdovers & the birds weren't treated & went on to top different Fed';s etc.. so it suits us just fine
