Ive won puttin the cocks in the basket and letting the hens in the loft as you describe, but you can only do this once or twice in the season, as it winds them up too much. Ive used a mirror in the box to wind a bird up on a friday. Two hens to one cock. Two cocks to one hen. A good trick I was reading about lately is to have a small mesh box, with mesh on all sides (a settling cage would do), then put one hen in it and leave the cocks for ten mins, and which ever one takes control of the top, make that your pooler. At the moment I havent even shown them their hens or bowls B4 the race, as I know their nowhere near on form yet, so will save the tricks for when I know there ready, or its just a waste of time.

I NEVER SHOW THE HEN ON A FRIDAY UNTIL AT LEAST THE FIFTH OR SIXTH RACE, ONLY THE BOWL, BOWLS ARE NOT LEFT IN THE LOFT ALL WEEK & TURNED OVER ON A FRIDAY, KEEP THEM WELL AWAY.....WHEN COCKS RETURN LEAVE THEM WITH HENS FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS & GIVE THEM THE RUN OF THE LOFT TOGETHER, DONT KEEP THEM LOCKED IN THEIR BOXES, LET THEM HAVE SOME FUN ITS BETTER THAN BEING LOCKED IN THE BEDROOM!!!!!!!!
