jordanp31 Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 I have had a new loft delivered today and i want to tranferre all of my current birds to the new loft so i can put some new birds into the old loft.My new loft will be about 20ft away from my current loft.I am really stunted with this proposition and i need to know if... 1.will the birds break to the new loft or will they keep going back to the old one? 2.how long will i have to keep the birds in because they already know the area? 3.will they continually use the new loft as their home once they are broke or will they keep going back and forth between the lofts? 4.i have youngsters that are 20 days old so when would it be best to transferre the birds to the new loft? many thanks for any help jordan :-/...
mealybar Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 I think they'll be fine, it be like moving birds from the yb loft to the ob loft, just a change of section. Takes them a few times to get used to the new door, but should get used to it fairly quickly.
superleeds Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 can you keep us posted on how you get on racing to your new loft.as it was over two years before my pigeons started to race like thay did to the old shed.i was told that this was because new wood gives of a gas in the rasin.i would like to find out if this is true so please keep me posted on this or if any one else has had this would be intrested to here from you.
Chris Little Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 Good point superleeds , I am in the process of building a new loft at the moment , I intend to let the wooden sections sit outside for a few months to allow them to weather before they are assembled. Just to give the resins and glues a chance to fizzle out Chris
