David Swain Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 Any idea what kind of race it was overall ? Here in South Dorset it was a bit of a stinker. Only three of the nine clocks in Weydor Specialist Club (Weymouth and Dorchester area top flyers) were returned. Jim Peters, Tony Swain and Reg Churchill each timed two with the first between 6.30 and 7pm. Won't be too many working through this morning as it's absolutely pouring down.
ribble Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 what time did they lib?im about 15-20 mile south and it was pouring down from first thing untill 1pm ish.
David Swain Posted May 21, 2006 Author Report Posted May 21, 2006 Held them until 13.15 when the weather apparently improved. Wind was given as north at the racepoint but according to the weather reports I picked up on the web it couldn't have been like that for long. Here it was very strong westerly all day and we expected winner to be well over to the east of the country. Heard however that the winner could be in Bristol which would be a pretty good achievement given the wind direction.
rlez Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 on the wirral strong west wind raining all morning brighter after 1pm
ribble Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 it was a strong west wind.it could of been north at the lib point as it is rather hilly around them parts so it might not of been a true wind.do they not have a website?if the winner is in bristol its done a good fly.
David Swain Posted May 21, 2006 Author Report Posted May 21, 2006 They do have a website but it doesn't appear to get up-dated very often and can't find any mention of yesterday's race, perhaps they need to take a leaf out of the MNFC book, they seem to give their members an excellent on-line service.
richard Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 Four from eight clocks opened in the Isle of Wight clock station, with eight pigeons in total timed in. I took 1st and 3rd in the clock station doing 1227 and 1171. I sent 4 and the other 2 were here very early this morning. The wind here all day Saturday was gale force west to south west.
Matthew Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 am frm south yorkshire it didnt stop rainin til about 2.30pm and the wind turned to a very cold northerly
